My Story: My name is Timothy. I have a beautiful, loving wife and two furry children. I have always run, but I haven't always enjoyed it. Running was always a prerequisite for other, "more exciting" sports, such as soccer and basketball. Then about seven years ago, I decided to go for my first true run without any ulterior motives. I was a Sophomore in college, and I had put on more than a few pounds. Was I overweight? Slightly, and I was getting unhealthier by the day. Did I enjoy my first run? Not exactly. It was blazing hot, and I ended up walking home. I was exhausted and frustrated, but I was also hooked. How far could I run? How fast could I run? I liked the idea of a sport where there were no limitations or boundaries. Complete autonomy. I started running more and more. It was amazing. I accidentally found my passion!
I have since completed four marathons, one ultra marathon, and a number of shorter races. My best marathon time is 3:44:26, which I recorded in December of 2103 at the Rocket City Marathon in Huntsville, AL. Am I an elite runner? No, but with hard work and dedication I continue to improve my times and evolve as a runner. The greatest thing about running is the added confidence and joy it brings to my life making me a better Christian, husband, entrepreneur, and blogger.
This Site: This site has been around in some shape, form, or fashion
for more than three years. Over that time, my life has evolved. As have my
interests. Thus, it is time for this site to evolve as well. I will be adding a couple topics to the mix and
creating content more regularly. No more six month blogging hiatuses.
Running- You will continue to get posts about running. In fact, you will get
lots of posts about running. Running is my passion and it often
serves as inspiration for other areas of my life. You will notice
regular shoe reviews and training tips. Your will also notice
motivational running posts, which I like to think are my
specialty. In order to become more of an "expert" on running, I have
registered for a RRCA Coaching Certification Course in May 2014. This will allow me to better advise and coach runners of all skill levels.
Riding- I ride my bike for fun and to cross-train. I'm not a biking
snob, nor do I claim to be an expert. I do believe that cycling and
mountain biking are great exercise that they can teach us valuable lessons
about life. Therefore, most of my cycling posts will likely be more
metaphorical than literal.
Living- This is complicated, and this is where you will see the most
changes in blog content. As I mentioned earlier, my life has evolved
over the last few years. I have always considered myself an
entrepreneur, but now it is official. I started developing my first
business last year. Check it out at TechieRunner.com. This is one of
several business ventures that are in the works right now. Obviously, this is
a big part of my life, and I want to share my successes and failures
with you along the way. Life is about growing and evolving.
Blogging- I am making a commitment to this blog. A commitment to creating
valuable content. A commitment to you. It only makes sense that I
share the blogging lessons that I learn along the way with you as well.
What works and what doesn't work. The tools I use. The content
creation process. Everything.
My life is full of excitement right now, and I hope that shines through
on this site. Understand that this site is nothing without you. If you
have questions. Please ask them. If you want advice. I'm here to
help you. If you think I'm crazy. Share that as well. Thanks and best
wishes in 2014!
